I’m Jess Ho, a freelance writer based in Melbourne, Australia.

I’m most well known for my take-no-prisoners opinions on the hospitality industry. I was the food and drink editor for Time Out Melbourne, having previously contributed to several bars and restaurants guides for the publication, along with countless reviews.

I have been published in Eater, The Guardian, A+ Insights, The Age Spectrum, The Financial Review, Good Weekend, Food Service Magazine, Virgin Voyeur, Time and Tide, Frankie Magazine, SBS, The Big Issue, and have contributed to many restaurant guides and cookbooks in Melbourne.

I’ve worked on podcasts for 7am and BBC, and I am the host and producer of Bad Taste. I’m a regular presenter at events and festivals across Melbourne.
Raised by Wolves is my first book. It was longlisted for the Indie Book Awards and shortlisted for The Age Book of the Year in 2023.
